What a Special Education That Need

September 4, 2010

Most parents are not satisfied with their children just “get by” at their respective schools. I also want to remind parents that the majority of most teachers are not satisfied with their students just to get by one. However, the law is a key factor in this case.

By law a student must attend educational needs in order to qualify for special education placement. If the need does not exist then the child does not qualify. Now, the needs most often determined by standard achievement tests. Usually WJ-III, as mentioned above. If a student shows an average rating of poor and WJ-III scores were very often concerned that students do not finish their homework, is a behavior problem, or missing a lot of school. This is probably because of their disability, particularly if they are experiencing health problems. In this case most often that students are placed in what is called the 504 placement and is designed specifically for students with health problems.

This leads me to the other options that are available for parents when it comes to placement in special education. Parents may want to consult with their family physician to explore the possibility of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This diagnosis can allow your child to be placed on the placement of 504 or as other medical students affected, which is a special alternative education placements that do not require any significant difference between intelligence and achievement. However, all placements in special education requires academic needs.
