Get Healthiest Droid Application

December 17, 2009

The application works by using the camera on your Droid cell phone to scan the product barcode which in turn pull the ingredient list from the ScanAvert’s database and instantly reports any dangerous ingredients. It also suggests compatible substitute products that are safe to use. It works on foods and beverages alike. ScanAvert also provides product recall alerts.

Each user must register and include their list of dangerous ingredients. They are also able to input other values like calories, carbohydrates or grams for notifications if the product exceeds the set limits or causes other undesirable reactions.

Some of the beneficiaries:

* Individuals consuming prescription drugs
* Individuals managing obesity, diabetes, celiac disease, or, chronic conditions such as ulcers, which need to avoid substances that aggravate their symptoms.
* Individuals who are abstaining from certain foods for religious reasons.
* Those with ingredient allergies.
* Children who are avoiding gluten in their diets.
* Pregnant women advised to avoid particular ingredients during pregnancy.
* Women who breast-feed their children.
* Any person who has difficulty reading small labels.
* Those whose main language is not English, or struggle with literacy.

ScanAvert works off of the Gladson’s database, which has the largest product information database available. However the big retailers with private labels do not provide their information to use with ScanAvert. Hopefully the big generic labels will recognize the need to share their ingredient list to insure nobody consumes unsafe ingredients. ScanAvert is the solution for Droid consumers who insist on the best in safety features.
