Find Mentor To Start Online Business

August 9, 2009

Working with a coach or mentor will make all the difference in your online business. Having someone to talk over your ideas with, and to guide you through the steps necessary to build a profitable internet business will save you months or years of frustration. Finding the right person to work with doesn’t have to be a difficult process.

Let others know you are looking for a mentor. You will be surprised at how many people within your circle of influence are already working with a coach or mentor, or have worked with one in the recent past. Ask them some specific questions before you contact the person yourself.

Even though everyone’s experience is different, there are some basic qualities you will want to make sure are addressed by the person you choose to spend your time and money with in the future.

Look for someone who is actively working in the area you need help with. Years ago I made the disastrous mistake of paying a mentor, only to find out he had not worked actively in my niche for more than five years! On the internet, five years is an eternity. Don’t let this happen to you, no matter what field you are in.

Also, make sure you time schedules are compatible. Your mentor does not have to live in the same time zone as you live, but if they are twelve hours away that may make a huge difference in your ability to communicate in real time.

Finally, ask for a trial session, twenty minutes or so, to see if they are punctual, organized, and easy to deal with. First impressions mean a lot, so this will help you to decide if this person is for you.

Got something to say?
